Put it simply, it is a centralized, highly available, secure, at-your-fingertips repository for all your digitally encoded assets with an intuitive workflow designed to optimize the usually laborious and disjointed effort to manage and deliver the vital information.

In layman's terms, DAM is broken down to these four integral steps:

1. INGESTION/CATALOG
Whatever that asset might be (a movie, image, document), it needs to be saved in a central repository - somewhere on your hard drive. It then needs to be defined in a database and tagged for search-ability purposes.

2. SEARCH
Once it's been added to the database, it can now be found by many search criteria (meta tags).

3. ORDER
Order Here's where you get to choose what exactly you want to do with the asset you searched for.

4. DELIVERY
In the end, it's all about delivery. What, how and where. You have the "what", now you get to define how you want it handled. You can attach an asset itself or a hyperlink to its location in an email, burn it onto a CD/DVD/Blu Ray media and print a label, you can specify how many copies you want, and where do you want it to go. You also have an ability to track your order via a dashboard docked on your desktop status
